On this day, the next ARMM Governor will be decided by the 2 million voters in the Southern Philippines. The job may be glamorous, imagine being a leader of an autonomous region. That’s almost the same as being the leader of an independent nation. But as the saying goes, positives are always associated with negatives. The next ARMM governor would have to tackle several problems in the region. Problems which some think are impossible to solve.
The effort has been an uphill effort. The region is blessed with fertile soil, rich marine resources and natural resources. Proper investments could project a dramatic growth in the region’s, or even the country’s, economy. The region is also blessed with calm beaches which could be the country’s prime tourist spots.
The region of ARMM is a goldmine, it is just hidden under all those years of violence and aggression. This is where the next ARMM governor is supposed to step in, he or she should be able to prove that the region really deserves autonomy. The main objective of the next ARMM governor is to make autonomy work.
